Okay, I'm a pretty humble person in general. But I believe, as Remy Ma eloquently puts it, that the right to brag can be earned:

Got it? But I digress ... So anyway, although I'm usually humble, I'm quite vocal about one talent in particular: recognizing human likenesses. I'm kind of amazing at it! Give me any random ho hum Jo and I can tell you a celebrity and/or civilian (and in some cases, cartoon character) that he/she resembles! There are certain cases which are SUPER obvious such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Thandie Newton:

That one is obvs, right? And if not, you can kill yourself! There's nothing as frustrating as people who refuse (yes, it's a choice!) to see likenesses! I've dedicated far too much of my time to this stuff for you to blatantly disagree with the truth!

Okay, we'll leave the former case for the doubters and neophytes to ponder over for a while. Now, if you will, take my figurative hand as I guide you to the next level because this one is a bit more difficult. If you've ever seen Fat Camp, MTV's the soon-to-be cult classic documentary, then you'll remember the multi-faceted camper Diane: the bitching, the sloth, the "diabeetus", the legend. Honestly, I have neither the writing skills, nor the creativity to effectively embody the enigma that is Diane (Rich from Four Four does an awesome job as usual so go check that out!). I can, however, tell you who she looks like! This one was particularly difficult so I take great pride in my discovery that she and Björk were separated at birth:

It was difficult finding a picture of Diane at a great angle but you can kind of see the resemblance in the eyes and eyebrows. As Dr. House states, smugness is easier to maintain when you're always right. Right on!

I'm not great at introductions, so let me sum up my entire essence in the following three words: more is more! Pile on the camp, the glitter, the feathers, the guilding, the bright colors! I love it all. There's no room for minimalists here. And if you don't like it, you can kill yourself! I kid, I kid. Now, feast your eyes on two queens of the male and female variety:

Now don't get me wrong--I'm really into the "high brow" aspects of culture as well--but I believe pop culture has long been undervalued and discarded by the academic world as the frivolous musings of teenage girls and flamboyant young men. Whether these pundits want to admit it or not, pop culture is an intrinsic aspect of the American identity. Years from now, anthropologists will be studying our society's fascination with Britney Spears with the same vigor that they study migration patterns of early man (actually, anthropologists are the hippest and most current of the academic world so bad example). So instead of CNN begrudgingly covering the antics of the celebrity train wreck du jour, they need to embrace it and report it with gusto! Kthnksbai!
